I composed this image by attaching the platform to the bottom, which acts like a solid line/rectangle, providing stability to the image. And the delicate floral design adding to the mood of the image. The ceremonial tools/utensils/offerings are neatly arranged on one side, forming a group of Secondary Elements which is juxtaposed against the Primary Subject — the meditative pose of the sadhu. I eliminated most of the human form to concentrate on the Mudra, which is enough to convey what the person is doing.
The Tension in the image is created by the Contrast between the two elements. The eye first goes to the human form, because of its huge Visual Weightage which is supported by the sharp focus on the hand in front and then to the secondary subject. The limbs form a powerful diagonal line, directing the eye to the Mudra and also to the ceremonial offerings. The primary subject stands out from the ground by blurring. The earthy analogous colours of the composition is helping create a sense of calmness and spirituality in the composition.
